FAQ
How can I book an appointment?
You can write to us using the contact form, call us or send us a WhatsApp message. We will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a meeting, if you wish, or to carry out a preliminary assessment.
How much do your services cost?
Fees depend on the type of matter and how complex it is, and have to be worked out by the lawyer. Before taking any steps, we will tell you the expected cost and give you a written engagement letter, so you always know what you are committing to. You may also have to cover other costs, such as expert reports or advance payments. We will try to explain everything as clearly and concisely as possible.
Which areas of law does SAVIG work in?
Our lawyers are qualified to represent their clients in any area of law. In particular, we focus on civil matters (inheritance, claims for unpaid debts, etc.), commercial and consumer law, and administrative law (claims for damages against public authorities, immigration matters, etc.). The Practice areas page has details of each. If your case does not fit any of them, ask us anyway and we will tell you whether we can help.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Yes. Everything you tell us, including at the first consultation and even if you do not end up instructing us, is protected by lawyers' professional secrecy.
Does sending a message make me a client?
No. Writing to us or calling us does not in itself create a professional relationship or any commitment on your part. That relationship only begins when we expressly accept the engagement, after explaining the terms to you.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Your ID and absolutely all the documents related to the matter: contracts, letters, notices, decisions, invoices or any other paperwork, photos or videos you have. The outcome of many cases can turn on small details, so it is always best for your lawyer to have all the information in advance. If in doubt, bring everything and we will go through it with you.
Can I apply for free legal aid?
If your income is within the limits set by Law 1/1996 on free legal aid, you can apply through the Legal Guidance Service of the Vigo Bar Association, which will assess your case and, where appropriate, appoint a legal aid lawyer. In that case you will not be able to choose your lawyer.
